Alright heres what I got, 1986 GW. When I am turning right from a stop, and really give her some gas there is a knocking noise, pretty loud. This is in 2wd by the way. There does not seem to be any affect only a noise. Any ideas?

Dana 44 3.73 gears.

tire rub?
U-joint?
Wheel bearing?
tie-rod joint?

That should get you started...
get under it and see if anything is loose.

Also have someone turn the wheel from side to side, while you look to see if anything is moving that is not supposed to.

Check your front brake caliber since it was sitting so long.....

Sean, I think you were right about the one noise being that center cap, I slowed down and listened and think that it makes that noise, I also think that caliper is hanging up, because of the rust and it started to squeal this morning. When I left your house, and turned on 90 I gave her a little gas and heard a clicking noise. You ever had this problem?

well now that i think about it when i first put my front end together i had a faint clicking noise. I figured out that it was the caliper, everything was new at that point... i dont notice it anymore though.

It was the fan shroud, it was missing half of it, I guess from the engine movement at high torque it was hitting the shroud or causing the shroud to move toward the motor. Either way its fixed and I fixed the tranny mount (needed anyway). thanks for the input guys.

yeah, glad it wasn't a serious problem. And since this is a must have item the wife has to give me the green light.

Are you sure your motor mounts are good?

Sorry I didn't have a chance to get online yesterday. When you said center cap, I was thinking wheel bearing, Glad you figured it out. Those little noises suck, they always drive me nuts.
Sometimes I wish I could just turn up the radio, but know that it's better to find out before it's too late to fix the problem cheaply. Your deal can be fixed for the price of three mounts, that prolly needed replacing anyway. Had you waited, your radiator might have got whacked.
