I've got full factory air ride on the 2000 Expedition I drive.
Recently, every once in a while as I'm driving the check suspension light comes on and it slowly turns into a low rider. If i shut it off and turn it back on, the light goes off and the compressor kicks on and raises it back up and performs as normal. For those of you who know these systems what do you think is triggering the shut down of the system and the error light?

sounds like either a fuse or a solenoid...
There is a switch under the dash on the passenger side up against the firewall, try flipping that off and then back on and see what happens.

Expos and Range Rovers run nearly the exact same system. Most likely you have a sensor that is getting out of alignment. If you want, I have a computer program that is used to work on the Range Rover air ride system. You are more than welcome to try it with your Expo. It is mostly used for troubleshooting and clearing codes. Sounds mostly to me like a sensor though. To give you a basic run down though:
Air bags are connected to a solenoid block wich is run off of an air tank. Air tank is filled by a compressor. Sensors at the corners feed into a computer which turns on the solenoids to raise or lower corners or the rear of the vehicle to level out while driving. Very simple system once you understand it, but can often be a PITA to troubleshoot. Let me know if you need anything specifically answered on it and I will do my best from here.

The Compressor control relay went out. Installed a new one and its good to go, still runs a lot though, i think i've got a small leak somewhere... Next few weekends i'll trace the lines with some soapy water and adjust my height sensors to give me a 3" lift full time:wink5:
