So im starting to look at some black wheels for the WK. :26 (2):

Because my brakes are so big, 17" is the smallest I can go,and 4.75" backspacing.

So the question is... buy 17x8 4.5 BS and run a 1/4" spacer or a 17x9 w/ 5" BS for a little more money.

also, what is the benefit of buying the caps with the wheels? just a way to get more money out of you?

Thanks guys.

um... just an fyi you will need the 1/4" spacer with the 5" BS wheels not the 4.5" BS...

yeah i would go with the 17x8's with 4.5 BS. the lower number of backspacing the more the wheel will stick out

what wheels are you looking at?

I guess I need an explanation of Backspacing. I thought that a 4.5" back space plus a 1/4" spacer = 4.75" back space. Im a noob. The issue I have is the caliper sticks out.

Bryan: yeah they look baller for sure.

Eric: im not really sure what I want, like a Soft 8 or there was some black JK wheels on nc4x4 for sale... who knows.

the lower number of BS the further the wheel sticks out. You are thinking backwards. A stock wheel is normally 5" BS. after market will run 3.25-4.5 depending. When you put a spacer on there it subtracts from your BS number (5" bs + .25" spacer = 4.75" BS).

BS is measured from inside wheel flange to the wheel mounting surface. So if the rim were facing the ground and you measured from where the wheel seats to the top of the flange, that is BS.

thanks Jake.

So my stock wheels are 6.25" BS. Im running 1.5" spacers right now making my current setup at 4.75" BS? im so fin lost.

Why would other WK owners need a 1/4" spacer for a 4.5" BS wheel? Heres what im going off of... it pertains to all WK's not just 07 like the title. http://www.jeepsunlimited.com/forums/showthread.php?t=469035&highlight='07+wheel

according to the thread it is because of the wheel design, the flange sticks out towards the caliper more than the stock wheel. I say buy the wheel you want, and test fit it. if you run into the same issue then buy the spacer and go from there.

And yes... your 6.25" BS with the 1.5" spacer puts you at 4.75"

But you should be able to run any thing less than 4.75" with out issues...

I think your jeep is WAY too nice for shitty steel wheels...Go with Aluminum. My steelies are dented all to shit from even small rocks and are now rusting. I vote black Rubi wheels too.

im thinking you are right. I think I will spend the extra coin for either JK's or some Black rock aluminums.

not sure how the JK rubi wheels are, but i have found that the TJ rubi wheels are a PITA to balance. But i do vote aluminum. The weight difference is HUGE between aluminum and steel.

I can't wait for our forum to have as vast a selection of parts and rigs for sale as nc4x4 does. In time......... I don't know about the difficulty of balancing a rubi wheel, that's jake's trade not mine. But I do think soft 8's would look retarded on a nice jeep, and zach is right they rust like a bastard.

summit definitely has to lowest prices on wheels and shipping compared to jeep catalog sites.

these would look absolutely sick for an alloy

http://www.quadratec.com/products/92615_11XX_A_PG.htm

theyre pretty much a stock JK moab but with more backspacing

but I would personally give a more "used" look with some steelies like the black rock d-windows you posted earlier

edit: if I had your WK Id be all over these
